FAQs

What’s involved in the treatment?

1st appointment: Consultation to design the brows according to face shape and bone structure,
select the pigment and patch test. 30-45mins.

2nd appointment: Treatment which includes, recapping the look, measuring and drawing the brows
and the actual procedure. 2.5-3 hours.

3rd appointment: Top up, 6-8 weeks later. After the brows have healed we will go over any gaps or
patchy areas. At this stage we can also go darker with the pigment colour and/or add further
fullness to the brows if desired. 1-1.5 hours.

How long will my brows take to heal?

Your brows will take 4-6 weeks to heal.

Day 1 – a little dark but I love my new brows – thank you
Day 2 –4 – this colour is too dark; one brow seems a little uneven
Day 5-7 – oh no, my brows are lightly scabbing and falling off
Day 8-10 – where have my brows gone… I don’t think it’s worked
Day 14-28 – ah it’s okay, they are gradually coming back through, still looking a little patchy and
uneven.
Day 42 (after retouch/top) - Aww they are beautiful. I love them!

Why do I need a top up?

A top up is required approximately 6 weeks after the initial treatment by
which point we can assess how the brows have healed and go over any gaps or patchy areas. At this
stage we can also go darker with the pigment colour and/or add further fullness to the brows if
desired.

How do you ensure I will like the shape of my brows?

We will work with you to design the shape of your brows prior to microblading, measuring your
brows, filling gaps and creating the shape using brow pencil to draw one brow, once you’re happy
we will draw the second brow and only when you are 100% satisfied with both your eyebrows, we
will proceed to microblading the agreed shape.

What does the aftercare involve?

It’s important to avoid getting your brows wet for the first 10-14 days post treatment. We suggest
washing your face with a flannel and protecting them with either a headband or cling film whilst
washing/showering.

You will be provided with a soothing aftercare balm to apply post treatment, 1-2 times daily.

You should avoid rigorous exercise which causes excessive sweating and swimming for up to 14 days
post treatment.

Over exposure to ultraviolet light is one of the biggest culprits of pigment fade, therefore please
protect your brows with sunscreen and sunglasses when exposed to the sun.

What maintenance should I follow post treatment?

Like any skin or cosmetic treatment (including permanent makeup and microblading) you need to
keep up with the maintenance. A microblading/microshading colour boost is recommended every 9-
18 months depending on the individual skin type and, in some cases, sooner to ensure your brows
continue to look perfect. At the colour boost we will make any tweaks, fill in any gaps and patchy
area and ensure you feel as good as the first time you had the treatment.

Will the colour change?

We use award winning KB Pro pigments which fade to their intended hue.
Over time the pigment will fade depending on the undertones in your skin. With warm toned skin
the brows are likely to have a slight red tone when they fade and if you are cool toned the brows are
likely to fade to a grey tone.

Will the microblading fade?

The treatment is considered semi-permanent and will fade over time. Pigment retention and
longevity does depend on your individual skin type.

The microblading/microshading is designed to last approximately 9-12 months (can last up to 18 months). For people with normal to dry skin before a colour boost is required. There are several factors which can affect
pigment retention:

  • Skin type (oily skin and very dry skin fade faster)

  • Pigment colour used (lighter colours fade faster)

  • Sun exposure (over time can cause fading and discoloration of the pigment)

  • Use of daily anti-aging products (e.g. Tretinoin (Retin-A) & Alpha Hydroxy). These products increase your cell turnover rate and will shorten the life of your cosmetic tattoo

  • Excessive exercise/sweating

We cannot guarantee the skin will hold the pigment for this long as in rare cases the pigment maybe
rejected by the skin resulting in no pigment once healed. Equally we cannot guarantee the pigment
will ever fade.

Will I need to wear makeup once the brows have healed?

This very much depends on how you like your brows. Our microblading/shading is designed to be
soft, subtle and natural looking to compliment your face with minimum make up, however if you
prefer a heavier look on your brows to complement your other make up you may choose to use
pencil. Using pencil to experiment with fashion brows is always a safe option as you can wipe away
the pencil at the end of the day.

What if I don’t like the microblading once it has been done?

As with all cosmetic procedures, individuals should not make their choices lightly.  We always
recommend clients do their research, understand the procedure, and compare different artist’s
work and portfolio when making their decision. We will do our utmost to ensure the shape and style
of the eyebrows is to the client’s satisfaction prior to the procedure. Every effort will be made to
achieve an even appearance, but please realise our faces are never perfectly symmetrical. Uneven
appearance can be fixed during the touch up session. Pigment discoloration and colour correction
can also be fixed during a colour boost session. Microbladed brows will eventually fade away if no
additional colour boost sessions are done.

How often will I require a colour boost?

The microblading/microshading is designed to last approximately 9-12 months (can last up to 18 months) for people with normal to dry skin before a colour boost is required. There are several factors which can affect
pigment retention whereby a colour boost maybe required more frequently to restore the brows to
their perfect colour and shape. These include:

  • Skin type (oily skin and very dry skin fade faster)

  • Pigment colour used (lighter colours fade faster)

  • Sun exposure (over time can cause fading and discoloration of the pigment)

  • Use of daily anti-aging products (e.g. Tretinoin (Retin-A) &Alpha Hydroxy). These products increase your cell turnover rate and will shorten the life of your cosmetic tattoo

  • Excessive exercise/sweating

What medical conditions will prevent me from having the treatment?

  • Pregnant or breast feeding

  • Epilepsy

  • Glaucoma

  • Herpes simplex

  • Skin conditions around the brow areas e.g. blisters, rashes, psoriasis, or eczema

  • Take steroids such as Retin-A, Cortisone, Accutane or Renovo

  • Susceptible to post inflammatory hyperpigmentation

  • Hypertrophic scarring or keloids

  • Blood disorder e.g. haemophilia, sickle cell anaemia or a platelet disorder

If you suffer from any of the following conditions, you may be able to proceed with a doctors note
obtained at your own cost:

  • High blood pressure or a heart condition

  • Diabetes

  • Taking blood thinners e.g. aspirin
